Ephemeral Effluences

This series, “Ephemeral Effluences” is inspired by the various and transient flows and patterns found in ocean waves. Whether it be the soft, rhythmic laps on the beach or the swirls and torrents of the waves crashing into rocks, these patterns are a feast of movement and textures.

Each is an effort to freeze-frame the continual motion of the ocean and capture the essence of the water’s movement. The striated paint strokes are key to capturing the rhythmic ebbs, flows, and ripple effects in waves.

“Creating these moments in Movement was a challenge to create an authentic feel of fluidity while abstracting the patterns. All the while, embracing how these same patterns can mimic the ripples and striations in geodes and granite. A favorite theme of mine is to explore how the same patterns can exist in a variety of elements throughout nature.”
